Job Overview

This role offers a unique opportunity for motivated podiatrists to deliver high-quality inpatient foot care as part of a dedicated team at Princess of Wales Hospital. The post involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, education, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams, focusing on limb-threatening foot conditions. The role is fixed-term/secondment until 31st March 2027, requiring prior approval from your current manager if applying as a secondment.

Main Duties

  • Conduct ward rounds reviewing patients with limb-threatening complications, collaborating with MDT members.
  • Act as a liaison between inpatient and outpatient care to ensure seamless patient pathways.
  • Request diagnostics and interpret results to inform clinical decisions, including independent prescribing where qualified.
  • Evaluate outcomes and participate in research, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical governance, professional standards, and record-keeping.
  • Provide expert assessment and management of complex foot conditions, including offloading and wound care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams, providing education and support.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, protocols, and professional registration requirements (HCPC). Participation in CPD is essential.

Person Specification

  • HCPC registration.
  • Masters level or equivalent postgraduate training.
  • Experience in managing complex foot disease.
  • Desirable: Independent Prescriber status or working towards it.

Welsh language skills are desirable. The ability to speak Welsh is an advantage but not essential.
