Job summary

RedTech Recruitment is seeking an Internal Legal Counsel to join a North Uttlesford/Greater Cambridge Area technology client. The role focuses on building an in-house legal function around AI governance, software licensing, IP, and data protection, with significant interaction across engineering and executive teams.

You will draft and negotiate complex agreements, advise on regulatory frameworks, and drive contract lifecycle processes while ensuring legal risk is understood in business terms.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with significant PQE in commercial agreements.
• Strong knowledge of technology law, IP, software licensing, and data protection.
• Ability to translate legal risk into business language and build in-house functions.

Responsibilities

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating customer, supplier, and licensing agreements.
• Advise on AI technologies, IP, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
• Support corporate governance, risk management, and compliance programmes.
• Monitor UK and international AI/tech legislation affecting the business.
• Shaping and leading the internal legal function and managing external counsel.
