Qualifications

We are looking to recruit an in-house solicitor within the Quality and Risk Department to deal with client complaints and professional indemnity circumstances.

The role

Complaints Management: Investigate, manage, and resolve client complaints in a professional and timely manner, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and external regulations:

  • liaising with the complainant and internal members of staff,
  • investigating the complaint and providing an appropriate response to the complaint,
  • maintaining the firm’s complaint records.
  • From time to time, it may also involve dealing with the Legal Ombudsman in the event that a complaint is escalated to them.

Professional Negligence Notifications: Respond to notifications of potential or actual instances of professional negligence.

  • Investigating and establishing the facts of any reported circumstance
  • Advising and providing appropriate assistance on the steps to be taken to deal with the circumstances
  • Advising on potential conflict and pre-action protocol.
  • Liaising with Head of Compliance and Quality, internal stakeholders, insurers and advisers and external third parties as necessary.
  • maintaining the firm’s professional indemnity records.

GDPR Compliance: Assist in the company’s compliance with UK GDPR by addressing data protection queries, providing advice and guidance to the firm’s GDPR Assistant, assisting in managing the firm’s data registers and leading DPIA assessments.

AML Compliance: Supporting the firm’s MLRO and MLCO in ensuring compliance with Anti-Money Laundering regulations, including providing guidance on AML queries.

Compliance Queries: Serve as a point of contact for internal teams seeking guidance on compliance-related matters.

Provide clear advice and recommendations in line with applicable laws and regulations and in line with the firm’s policies and procedures.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor with authority to practice in England and Wales
  • Strong knowledge of UK GDPR, Anti-Money Laundering regulations and SRA Standards and Regulations
  • Experience in defence of Professional Negligence claims
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage sensitive issues effectively
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
