Job Description:

Regulatory Counsel | Hybrid (Hertfordshire)

Are you a regulatory specialist ready to take on a key leadership role within a fast-paced, purpose-led business? We are currently looking for an experienced Regulatory Counsel on behalf of a well-known UK brand that’s part of a leading leisure and holiday group. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with strong experience in FCA/consumer credit regulation to join a business with energy, ambition, and a strong sense of mission.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll be the lead advisor on all regulatory matters, managing a team of 3 people, and working closely with the Executive team and Board to ensure the business operates in full compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations, including those from the FCA and Gambling Commission. You'll also play a key role in shaping commercial projects, overseeing compliance around financial crime, advertising, data protection, and corporate governance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as the lead legal advisor on all regulatory matters across the business
  • Provide expert guidance to senior stakeholders, including the Executive team and Board
  • Oversee compliance with FCA, Gambling Commission, and broader legal obligations
  • Advise on financial crime, anti-money laundering, and maintain effective controls
  • Support commercial projects with regulatory input and risk assessments
  • Oversee and advise on data protection, financial promotions, and advertising compliance
  • Maintain governance of a Guernsey-based insurance captive
  • Stay current on changes in corporate law and statutory obligations
  • Lead development and maintenance of regulatory policies and procedures
  • Manage investigations into legal, regulatory, or compliance-related incidents (e.g. whistleblowing, consumer rights)

What we’re looking for:

  • A qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with a regulatory specialism, ideally gained in-house or in private practice
  • Strong experience with FCA, consumer credit/consumer duty and motor finance
  • Commercial mindset with excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Able to influence at senior level and manage complex stakeholder relationships
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills
  • Meticulous, practical, and able to deliver at pace
  • Experience within the leisure, travel, or consumer finance sectors
  • Understanding of broader governance, insurance and advertising regulations

This is a hybrid role, with three days a week expected in their Hemel Hempstead office. You’ll lead a team of three and work cross-functionally with finance, commercial, and legal teams across the business.

This is a visible and impactful role where you’ll be trusted to lead, advise, and deliver. If you're looking for a role where regulatory expertise meets commercial energy — we'd love to hear from you.

On offer is an excellent base salary, benefits and 30% bonus. Please apply through LinkedIn or contact me [emailprotected] .
