Job description

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced In-House Graphic Designer to join us here at Culpitt, based in Northumberland. The role is office based and will encompass a wide range of design applications including web and social assets, product and consumer packaging, and brochure and leaflet design.

Reporting to the Design & Communications Manager, the In-House Graphic Designer will take direction from creative briefs and convert ideas seamlessly into web graphics, print advertisements, flyers, packaging designs and other designs required for both print and digital media.

Culpitt has been supplying cake decorations and associated products for over 100 years and are the UK’s leading wholesaler of sugar crafting equipment and edibles.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

The ideal candidate will need to have previous experience as a graphic designer. As this is a fast-paced environment, you will need to have the skills and experience necessary to hit the ground running. You will be an effective listener and communicator, who can liaise with colleagues from our sales and marketing teams, turning ideas and concepts into creative, cohesive designs that reflect our brands and promote our range of products. You will have an in-depth working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Vector illustration skills using Adobe Illustrator are essential. Ideally, you will have experience with email marketing services and CMS as this would be a definite advantage, as would knowledge of HTML, Digital Photography and Animation. You will have a structured approach to your work, be well organised and able to work concurrently on a number of projects at any one time. You will be pro-active and able to use your initiative.

To be considered for the role you must:
  1. Have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Graphic Design.
  2. Have previous experience in professional commercial design.
  3. Have demonstrable Vector illustration skills using Adobe Illustrator.
  4. Have an in-depth working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  5. Be structured, well organised and able to co-ordinate a wide range of different tasks concurrently.
  6. Be pro-active and able to demonstrate problem solving skills and use initiative.
  7. Be an effective communicator and comfortable liaising with a variety of stakeholders.
  8. Have demonstrable communication (written and oral) and numeric skills.
  9. Be able to work with focus and attention to detail.

Salary: up to £27,000 per annum depending on experience.
