Job description

Are you a qualified Employment lawyer seeking your next In-House Counsel role? Join a respected Non-Lending Consumer Products & Propositions legal team supporting the Retail and Private Banking division of a major UK bank. This is a great opportunity to work at the heart of product innovation, regulation, and risk management within a collaborative and forward-thinking legal team.

Why this role?

You’ll work alongside expert legal and business professionals on a wide variety of regulatory matters across savings, insurance, and private banking. You’ll help shape legal strategy, provide practical advice on consumer product compliance, and support the business in delivering customer-focused propositions—all while building your own expertise through exposure to complex legal work and supportive leadership.

What you’ll do:

Provide strategic legal advice across savings, insurance, and private banking products.

Support product development, proposition simplification, and regulatory compliance.

Identify and manage legal risk across a dynamic and regulated environment.

Advise on change initiatives, represent the business in disputes, and handle regulatory enquiries.

Draft, review, and update legal documents aligned with current laws and company policy.

Deliver clear, engaging legal training to colleagues at all levels.

Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align business goals with legal obligations.

Mentor junior team members and support knowledge-sharing across the team.

What you bring:

Qualified lawyer with strong experience in consumer regulation in retail financial services (5-10+PQE)

A track record of advising on product development and regulatory change.

Insurance or private banking experience is a plus.

Strong judgement and ability to anticipate and mitigate legal risk.

Excellent communication skills—able to translate complex law into business-friendly advice.

Experience in litigation or regulatory investigations involving consumer products.

Passion for training, mentoring, and supporting team development.
