Critical Facilities & MEP Manager - URGENT

£65,000 plus benefits, bonus, and package. Smaller company, smaller data centre, big opportunity.

We have a brand-new exciting opportunity for an all-encompassing Critical Facilities & MEP Manager to join a progressive and forward-thinking client based in the Heathrow region of the UK. This role offers a challenging, rewarding environment, ideal for a dedicated and ambitious individual eager to advance their career.

If you've ever wondered what it’s like to have autonomy over your own data centre, managing all services within it, and delivering top-tier service to clients, this is your chance. You will be responsible for ensuring service level agreements are robust, tested, and negotiated, and that the data centre delivery is of the highest standard.

You will be a key member of the team, instrumental in the success of this self-delivered hybrid model.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  1. Manage daily operations including maintenance, security, cleaning, change control, procurement, and budgeting.
  2. Oversee data centre expansion, modifications, maintenance, and new client move-ins.
  3. Prepare maintenance contracts and tender documents.
  4. Supervise external vendors and respond to issues.
  5. Manage specifications, performance, and administration.
  6. Prepare management reports, presentations, SOPs, emergency plans, and client reports.
  7. Handle incidents and prepare incident reports.
  8. Engage with stakeholders for feedback.
  9. Resolve conflicts with vendors/suppliers.
  10. Implement safety procedures and performance metrics.
  11. Provide superior customer service.
  12. Inspect facilities regularly and report problems.
  13. Manage financial budgets.
  14. Coordinate with internal teams and produce weekly reports.
  15. Recruit property management staff as needed.
  16. Manage data centre operations and handle uptime certification.
  17. Establish procedures and oversee onsite electrical operations.
  18. Ensure compliance with regulations.
  19. Support troubleshooting and emergency response.
  20. Implement energy and cost initiatives.
  21. Manage vendor maintenance and technical standards.
  22. Assist in developing critical environment procedures.
  23. Provide technical solutions and performance measurement systems.
  24. Participate in disaster recovery planning.
  25. Monitor and update the Data Centre Infrastructure Management System (DCIM) and assets.
  26. Ensure certificates are current and coordinate renewals.
  27. Handle incidents and coordinate utility company checks.
  28. Audit shift handovers, security, and cleaning schedules.
  29. Manage customer IT equipment racks and perform testing.
  30. Plan drills and coordinate with utility providers.
  31. Review vendor RAMS and manage security staff performance.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities operation in data centres or telecoms.
  • Licensed to coordinate with utility companies and handle high voltage.
  • Familiarity with critical systems like chillers, CRAC, UPS, Genset, etc.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and PC skills.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • HND/HNC or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Availability for 24/7 emergency support.
  • Experience with ISO 9000/27000 and PCI-DSS certifications.
