Job Description:

An In-House Commercial Property Lawyer (Landlord and Tenant) is sought by a business founded in the early 1900s.

The company wishes to add to its legal team, which currently has two members, by appointing a Commercial Property Lawyer with at least 5 years PQE. The role involves assisting the Group Legal Estates Director in providing strategic legal advice to the Board. Responsibilities include securing new sites, minimizing disposal costs, and handling property transactions. The position can be based in Essex or be fully remote.

Main Duties:

• Managing property portfolio matters such as leases, renewals, transfers, assignments, under-lettings, variations, surrender agreements, acquisitions, disposals, options, contracts, agreements, wayleave, easements, licences, and tenancies.
• Supporting portfolio management with lease, legal, and maintenance issues, liaising with the Group Estates Director.
• Handling property acquisitions and disposals following Board approvals.
• Minimizing costs and liabilities for closed branches by acting promptly.
• Addressing queries related to business rates, service charges, and insurance invoices.
