Job Title: In House Bookkeeper
Location: PBT Office, Hatherley Road, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
Job Type: Full-time or Part-time (minimum 20 hours per week) Permanent
Office Hours: Monday to Thursday 9:00am - 5:00pm, Friday 9:00am – 3:00pm

Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day bookkeeping needs of our clients, ensuring all financial records are maintained accurately and in compliance with UK accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Requesting records and information from clients
• Data entry, including the processing invoices, bills, expenses and receipts
• Bank reconciliations
• Wages journals
• Review and maintain aged debtors and creditors
• Reconciliation of control accounts
• Preparing VAT returns and reconciliations
• CIS Administration
• Regular communications with clients
• Other ad-hoc finance tasks as required
Required Skills & Experience
• Proven bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice or similar financial environment.
• Solid understanding of UK VAT rules and HMRC compliance.
• Proficient in accounting software (preferably Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage).
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills and a client-focused approach.
• Friendly, professional and able to communicate clearly with ‘non-finance’ people.
Desirable Qualifications
• AAT level 3 or 4 qualified or part-qualified (or equivalent experience).
• Experience with payroll processing and CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) returns.
