Job description

Key Accountabilities/Areas of Responsibility

• Provide advice to local, internal IPTs on HMRC issues, UK and foreign import/export processes to ensure understanding of and compliance with internal and external standards.
• Interface with the Despatch function and other functions across the site to provide guidance, respond to queries, and ensure smooth operations.
• Support preparation for external audits and attend these audits.
• Participate in internal meetings onsite and at other UK sites to stay informed and share information with the wider International Trade team.
• Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Recommend process improvements.
• Approve exports on the SAP system.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential:

• Understanding of HMRC (Customs), including Tariff Coding and relief regimes such as Inward and Outward Processing.
• Understanding of UK Strategic Control regulations, including Control List Classifications (CLCs), to validate CLCs on site products using external tools.
• Ability to learn continuously and stay updated with external regulatory changes.
• Confidence to challenge imports/exports to ensure compliance.
• Ability to present information clearly and articulate activities during meetings or audits, supporting reasoning with data and analysis.
• Understanding of SAP and other relevant tools like ‘SPIRE/LITE’ for export licenses.
• Good knowledge of trade compliance, especially foreign licensing within the aerospace, defence, and security sectors.

Desirable:

• Familiarity with SAP and tools like ‘SPIRE/LITE’ for export licensing.
• Understanding of trade compliance considerations for international support programs in aerospace, defence, and security sectors.
