Job summary

NEC Software Solutions is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to deliver mission-critical NEC CAD/Communications solutions across the UK. You will work on-site at customer locations, with travel across the UK, implementing deployments, upgrades and fault resolution.

You will collaborate with multiple internal teams, maintain documentation, and ensure adherence to NEC processes and safety practices while delivering reliable services to blue light emergency services clients.

Qualifications

• Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving experience.
• Strong understanding of Active Directory/domain architecture.
• Experience deploying Windows operating systems and server OS.

Responsibilities

• Build, commissioning and upgrades of NEC bespoke CAD/communications products into customer environments or hosted data centres.
• Fault finding across hardware and software in NEC product suite.
• Create, review and update NEC engineering documentation (workplans, instructions, guides).
• Coordinate activities with internal teams and gather information to complete tasks.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be helping us to deliver our solutions into live operational service for our suite of products across our entire customer portfolio.

What you will be doing:

• Build, Commissioning, and upgrades of NEC Software Solutions bespoke Communication and CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) products solutions into our customer environments or Hosted Data Centres.
• Fault finding our product suite of solution/s at both hardware and software levels.
• When required, create, review and update NEC Engineering documentation, for example workplans, work instructions and technical guides.
• The role holder will be required to work professionally in liaison with several internal teams to coordinate various activities and gather / provide information required to complete the tasks at hand.
• The role is primarily completed on customer sites as demand requires, therefore you will be expected to work from a variety of locations and extensive travel should be expected, including overnight stays.
• The role can involve extensive customer contact on both a technical and non-technical level requiring a professional and adaptable approach to communication and interaction / service.
• The role will require working both in a team and, potentially autonomously where projects dictate a limited engineering requirement. An increasing level of autonomy is typically achieved after some time in post and suitable experience has been gained.
• Continually follow and adhere to NEC Software Solutions outlined process & procedures.
• Complete all activities within set deadlines and report appropriately any difficulties to achieve delivery milestones.
• Present a professional approach and attitude to all work undertaken.
• Promote a clean working environment. Adhere to all Health and Safety practices, rules and regulations.

Qualifications

Who are you?

• Experienced in troubleshooting and problem solving
• A good understanding of Microsoft active directory / domain architecture
• Proven experience of administering and working with Microsoft Windows 11, Windows Server up to 2022
• Proven Experience deploying Microsoft Windows and server Operating systems
• Proven Experience deploying Microsoft Windows Updates (WSUS)
• Working knowledge of MySQL/MSSQL (running backups, running queries, etc)
• Proven knowledge and experience of virtualisation environments (Hyper-V or VMware)
• MS Business Applications experience including Excel, Visio, Word
• Excellent customer service skills
• Proven experience working to ITIL best practices.
