Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is assisting a welcoming primary school in Wellingborough to recruit a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant for a September 2026 start. The role is full-time, temporary-to-permanent, providing targeted support to pupils with speech, language and communication needs to help them access learning and build confidence.

You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO, adapting activities to individual needs and monitoring progress within a nurturing classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with speech, language or communication needs is desirable.
• Ability to adapt activities for diverse communication needs.
• Strong interpersonal and safeguarding awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with speech, language and communication needs.
• Deliver targeted activities to develop listening and language skills.
• Support children inside and outside the classroom to access learning.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCO and support staff to implement strategies.
• Monitor pupil progress and maintain records in line with school policies.
