Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants for a specialist school in Bury St Edmunds. You'll support pupils with SEND, helping them access learning and develop independence in a calm, inclusive environment.

Role is full-time, term-time only, based in Bury St Edmunds. Pay is £95 per day (note: £100 per day appears in the job title). Applicants must have right to work in the UK and suitable references, and be DBS-checked or willing to apply.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND in education, care or a similar setting.
• Calm, patient approach and confidence supporting pupils needing reassurance.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and helping pupils reach potential.
• Experience as SEND Teaching Assistant or related roles is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils individually and in small groups, adapting activities to their needs.
• Build positive relationships and provide consistent encouragement throughout the school day.
• Support communication, emotional regulation and engagement with learning.
• Work with teaching staff to follow individual support plans and recognise pupils' progress.
• Help create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
