Job summary

Palmer Primary Academy within REAch2 Academy Trust is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support children with SEND. The role focuses on aiding teaching staff and enhancing learning for pupils with EHCPs and related needs.

The successful candidate should demonstrate calmness, patience and strong listening skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, parents and colleagues. Training and safeguarding procedures are emphasised.

Qualifications

• At least one years experience of working with SEND children in the primary age range.
• Experience of working with children in a friendly, busy environment.
• An understanding of children with SEN needs.
• Knowledge of child safeguarding procedures.
• Have a sympathetic understanding of the emotional, social and intellectual needs of children with special educational needs.
• Motivated to work with children with special educational needs and to inspire confidence in them.

Responsibilities

• Support children with SEN in the classroom and alongside the teacher.
• Build effective relationships with students, parents and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality and act with discretion.
• Use initiative and contribute to creating a positive learning environment.
