Job summary

Monarch Education is recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary SEN school in the Bury area from September 2026. You will support students aged 11–16 with a range of complex needs, working closely with class teachers and the wider support team.

This full-time, long-term role offers an opportunity to make a real difference in students' academic, social and emotional development within a nurturing educational environment.

Qualifications

• Have previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN setting.
• Patient, empathetic and adaptable with strong communication skills.
• Hold a Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Support students aged 11-16 with a variety of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
• Work closely with class teachers and the wider support team to deliver engaging learning activities.
• Provide 1:1 and small group support both inside and outside the classroom.
• Help students develop their academic, social and emotional skills.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.
• Support students with personal and pastoral needs when required.
