Job summary

Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council seeks a confident, organised Noise & Statutory Nuisance Enforcement Officer to lead investigations and ensure compliance with legislation. The role involves site visits, evidence gathering and preparing notices in partnership with environmental health teams.

You will handle triage, inspections, witness statements and engage with the public, elected members and colleagues while supporting cross-team environmental health activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental health or a related field is required.
• A relevant Environmental Health qualification (HNC/Diploma/BSc/MSc or higher) is required.
• Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to work with limited supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage with colleagues, elected members and the public.
• Competence with IT systems to create, maintain and retrieve records.
• Current driving licence and willingness to travel across the role area.
• Willingness to work outside normal office hours when required.

Responsibilities

• Undertake triage, provide initial advice and prioritise service requests.
• Carry out visits, revisits and inspections, including higher-risk work.
• Investigate noise and statutory nuisance complaints and gather evidence.
• Prepare and serve statutory notices and maintain case records.
• Prepare witness statements and attend court as a witness when required.
• Collaborate with environmental health, housing, pollution and health and safety teams to meet service needs.
