Job summary

Philosophy Education, Ltd. is supporting a Rochester secondary school to recruit a Learning Support Assistant for a September 2026 start.

You will work with teachers and the SEND department to provide tailored support for students with a range of additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their personal best. This is a full-time, term-time only role with a strong emphasis on safeguarding, inclusion and collaborative professional development within a supportive

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school environment.
• Experience supporting students with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH or moderate learning difficulties, is desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, caring and resilient approach.
• The ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEND both within the classroom and through small group or one-to-one interventions.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Adapt learning resources to meet individual student needs.
• Encourage student engagement, confidence and independence.
• Promote positive behaviour and support the school’s behaviour policy.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SEND team and external professionals.
• Assist with monitoring student progress and recording observations.
• Provide pastoral support and help create a safe, positive learning environment.
• Support students during breaktimes, educational visits and school activities where required.
