Job summary

St Petrocs in Penzance is seeking a Homelessness Support Coordinator to join our Resettlement team. You will work with people who are rough sleeping or at risk, conducting intensive assessments and advocating for access to housing and services.

Based at the Breadline Centre, you will support move-on residents and those in move-on accommodation. The role involves group facilitation, collaboration with partner agencies, occasional evenings/weekends, and support during Winter Service periods, with

Qualifications

  • Comfortable working independently and under pressure.
  • Ability to manage conflict and challenging behaviour.
  • Able to relate to and motivate disadvantaged individuals.
  • Energetic, creative and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming, safe presence within the drop-in service and give information and referrals.
  • Develop supportive relationships with clients and move-on residents to achieve housing and wellbeing goals.
  • Support clients with benefits, accommodation, health and related practical issues.
  • Assess needs and develop personalised support and safety plans.
  • Assist access to food, clothing and essential items as needed.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies to coordinate services for clients.
  • Follow safeguarding policies and report concerns as required.
  • Ensure move-on residents understand rights and rent responsibilities.
  • Maintain confidential case notes and client records accurately.
  • Support health and safety checks and maintain a welcoming environment.
  • Attend events as a positive ambassador and engage with supporters.
  • Flexible work across service areas and other duties as needed.
