Job summary

Essex County Council is recruiting a Social Worker (Family Worker) to join the Family Solutions team based in Mid Essex. The role is fixed-term for 9 months (or secondment) and will contribute to early help for families facing multiple and complex challenges.

You will work in a multidisciplinary environment, manage a caseload, assess safeguarding risks, and collaborate on joint visits and intervention plans. Travel across Essex is required; a driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Post-ASYE experience.
• Two years’ experience in frontline children's services.
• Willing to work towards Practice Educator Qualification.
• Evidence of continuing professional development and experience with families with multiple and complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Join a highly experienced team of practitioners from diverse backgrounds.
• Contribute specialist social work expertise alongside colleagues from other professions.
• Manage your own caseload and assess safeguarding risks.
• Work with the team manager, Practice Supervisor, and Family Solutions team to review referrals and support decision-making.
• Facilitate complex family meetings and coordinate additional support services.
• Provide emotional and practical support in homes and community settings.
• Regular supervision with your manager or Practice Supervisor.
• Support integration of Family Solutions with Children Social Care as part of Family First Partnership.
