Job summary

Northumberland County Council is recruiting a Full-Time Family Group Conferencing Coordinator to lead and coordinate conferences for children, young people and families. You will bring together families, extended networks and services to agree safe, strength-based plans and support.

Qualifications

• Experience or qualifications in working with children and families (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Ability to respond to the needs of individual families from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to exercise a high degree of independence, initiative and expertise.
• Understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures.
• Strong listening and mediation skills and the ability to manage conflict.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Family Group Conferences to encourage family decision making and responsibility for their children and young people.
• Negotiate and discuss support within the family network to plan safeguarding arrangements.
• Collaborate with professionals to ensure the process is family-led and participatory.
