Job summary

The Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Full Time Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Early Years Team in Hillingdon. You will assess and treat pre-school children with speech and language needs, and work with parents and professionals to implement early interventions.

You will provide specialist assessments, therapy, and training while staying up to date with guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience working with pre school children as a therapist.
• Experience of assessing pre school children.
• Experience of delivering training/parent workshops.
• Experience of offering informal support to less experienced colleagues.
• Experience of working in a multiagency/multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• To assess, develop and implement specialist Speech and Language Therapy treatment.
• To provide appropriate specialist intervention and evaluate outcomes.
• To demonstrate highly developed auditory and perceptual skills in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of children.
• To facilitate relevant professionals/parents to carry out speech and language therapy programmes/strategies/advice
• To monitor the effectiveness of therapy programmes/strategies/advice and adjust as necessary
• To make a differential diagnosis on the basis of evidence from assessment and seek advice as appropriate
• To develop care packages based on best practice and differential diagnosis
• To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by evidence-based practice and outcome measures
• To keep up to date with new techniques and developments
• To reflect on practice with peers and supervisors and identify development needs
• To manage own complex caseload independently and prioritise workload
• To ensure involvement of children, families and schools in care planning
• To report safeguarding concerns to supervisor and refer as appropriate
