Job summary

Essex County Council, on behalf of Active Essex Foundation, is seeking an Impact Lead to design and shape evidence content across programmes. You will lead qualitative and quantitative research, develop theories of change and translate findings into practical improvements.

This is a full-time, hybrid role (37.5 hours weekly) with a fixed-term 18-month contract ending March 2028. Location is flexible, with occasional Chelmsford office presence and travel across the Essex area.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in research, evaluation, analytics or related discipline.
• Experience delivering research, evaluation or insight projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team.
• Understanding of qualitative and quantitative methods.
• Experience in contract management.
• Strong data literacy and report writing/presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead on qualitative and quantitative research across Active Essex Foundation programmes.
• Develop programmatic Theory of Change and interpretation of evidence.
• Gather intelligence, stakeholder feedback and evidence on delivery and impact.
• Lead evaluation across AEF-funded programmes and initiatives.
• Develop data collection tools, frameworks and methodologies for impact measurement.
• Translate findings into practical recommendations for service improvement.
• Support knowledge sharing and learning across programmes and partnerships.
