Job description

The Immunisation Nurse works as a member of the Immunisation Team, delivering nasal and intramuscular flu and other vaccine programmes within community and educational settings in accordance with the Department of Health Green Book on Immunisation and Local Services Specifications.

The role involves working closely with the administration team and school staff.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Practice

  1. Provide safe delivery of a quality immunisations service.
  2. Identify, prioritise, and implement programmes of care that meet patient needs.
  3. Manage risks effectively, including consent and side effects.
  4. Maintain CPD and stay updated with current practices and research developments.
  5. Report new problems and concerns to the Locality Lead Nurse.
  6. Work towards PGDs and PSDs.

Communication

  • Communicate effectively with team members, parents, carers, and school staff.

  • Understand responsibilities under the Freedom of Information Act.

Experience
  • Evidence of professional development.

Qualifications
  • Current NMC registration.
  • CPR & anaphylaxis training.
  • Foundation immunisation training.
  • Additional qualities include motivation, high standards, flexibility, communication skills, and a full driving license with access to a car.
