Immunisation Nurses - Greater Manchester (Trafford)

The Immunisation Nurse works as a member of the Immunisation Team, delivering nasal and intramuscular flu and other vaccine programmes within community and educational settings in accordance with the Department of Health Green Book on Immunisation and Local Services Specifications.

The role involves working closely with the administration team and school staff.

Main duties of the job
Clinical Practice
  • Provide safe delivery of a quality immunisations service.
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement programmes of care that meet patients' needs.
  • Manage risks effectively, including consent and side effects.
  • Maintain CPD and stay updated with current practices and research developments.
  • Report new problems and concerns to the Locality Lead Nurse.
  • Work towards PGDs and PSDs.
Communication
  • Communicate effectively with team members, parents, carers, and school staff.
Delivering a Quality Service
  • Work within own competence and professional code of conduct regulated by the NMC.
  • Promote quality, teamwork, and collaborate with admin to manage school workload.
  • Participate in shared learning and networking across immunisation teams.
  • Apply legal policies supporting safeguarding of children and adults.
Team Working
  • Act as lead clinician during immunisation sessions.
  • Collaborate with administration teams and school staff during sessions.
Risk Management
  • Ensure safe storage, rotation, and disposal of vaccines and drugs.
  • Follow cold chain procedures for transportation and storage.
  • Practice infection control according to guidelines.

  • Adhere to GDPR policies.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, stored securely.
