Gemini Recruitment is partnering with a large established Law firm to recruit IAAS Level Accredited Immigration Solicitors / Supervisors for permanent roles as the team expands.

The department handles business immigration, human rights, appeals and asylum nationwide, with specialist lawyers across the UK, offering broad development and opportunities.

Qualifications

• IAAS Level 1/2 accreditation and Supervisor status required.
• Clean, valid Practising Certificate at application time.
• Strong management and leadership capabilities.
• Pro-active client care and handling vulnerable cases.
• Excellent networking and business development skills.
• Experience with publicly funded and privately funded cases.
• Extensive immigration experience including asylum and human rights.
• Advocacy experience is an advantage.
• Excellent IT skills with MS Office and document management.

Responsibilities

• Report directly to Department Director.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to other team members.
• Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors and Caseworkers.
• Deliver training and development in the department.
• Handle detained clients, trafficking and torture cases, asylum work through Tribunal and upper Court.
• Prepare funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency.
• Prepare draft documents and processing evidence.
• Prepare applications meeting Home Office requirements.
• Attend conferences and court.
• Support business development and marketing.

MainDutiesandResponsibilities

• ReportdirectlytoDepartmentDirector
• ResponsibleforallaspectsofImmigrationworkincludingprovidingtechnicalexpertiseandguidancetootherteammembers
• AbilitytomanageandsuperviseSolicitors,TraineeSolicitorsandCaseworkerstomanageappropriatecaseloadtypesandcomplexities
• Assistingwithdeliveryofappropriatetraininganddevelopmentinthedepartment
• VarietyofdutiesincludingdealingwitharangeofImmigrationworkincluding;detainedclients;victimsoftrafficking&torture;asylumworkfrominitialapplicationsthroughtoTribunalappealandupperCourtappealmatters;entryclearanceapplicationsandappealsandsomejudicialreviewwork
• PreparingandmanagingfundingapplicationstotheLegalAidAgency,
• Preparingdraftdocumentsincludingwitnessstatementsandprocessingevidence
• PreparingapplicationstomeetHomeOfficerequirements(incl.draftingapplicationforms,indexofdocumentsandlettersofrepresentations)
• Attendingconferencesandcourt
• Youwillhaveaprofessionalpro-activeapproach,strongclientcareskillsandbeinterestedinBusinessDevelopmentandMarketingtosupplementthesubstantialworkvolumesbroughtinbythecompany

KeySkillsRequired

• Qualified Immigration Solicitor holding valid IAAS Level 1/2(Senior Caseworker) accreditation and meeting the Law Society's Supervisor status criteria.
• Musthaveaclean,validPracticingCertificateatthetimeof application.
