Immigration Department Background:

We have one of the largest legal aid immigration practices in the UK, ranked as a top-tier practice by The Legal 500. Our team is innovative and successful, specializing in asylum, human rights, nationality, and business immigration. We serve high net worth individuals, business professionals, and skilled migrants under Tier 1 visas. With over 160 immigration lawyers nationwide, we handle complex cases including appeals in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. Our team is experienced in asylum claims and human rights cases involving vulnerable clients.

Main Responsibilities of the Role:
  • Report to the Department Director
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in immigration work
  • Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers
  • Assist with training and development
  • Handle various immigration matters including detention, trafficking, asylum, entry clearance, and judicial review
  • Prepare and manage funding applications, draft documents, and prepare applications for the Home Office
  • Attend conferences and court proceedings
  • Maintain a professional, proactive approach with strong client care and business development skills
Key Skills Required:
  • Registered with the Law Society Immigration & Asylum Law Accreditation (membership desirable)
  • Committed to high standards of service
  • Valid Practising Certificate
  • Proven supervisory experience and ability to meet KPIs
  • Excellent client care, networking, and marketing skills
  • Knowledge of publicly funded and private immigration work
  • Experience with all immigration-related work and some expertise in adoption matters
  • Advocacy skills are an advantage
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management
