Job summary

Empowering Learning seeks a dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to support children with SEND across specialist SEN settings in Billingham. You will work with teaching staff to deliver tailored assistance, personal care where needed, and help pupils access learning and develop life skills.

Ideal candidates are compassionate, reliable, and adaptable, with experience in SEN and a willingness to engage with communication methods such as Makaton or PECS.

Qualifications

• Compassionate and patient with a genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs.
• Reliable and punctual, understanding the importance of consistency and routine for pupils.
• Resilient and adaptable, able to stay calm in challenging situations.
• Willing to support pupils with personal care where required.
• Experience in SEN, SEND or complex needs settings is highly desirable.
• Familiar with Makaton, PECS or alternative communication methods is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of SEND under the guidance of teaching staff.
• Assist with delivering tailored learning activities and progress monitoring.
• Provide personal care support where required and promote pupils' independence.
