Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a Classroom Supervisor for a secondary school in Barnsley to oversee classes when the regular teacher is unavailable. You will follow lesson plans, manage behaviour, and support students across Key Stages 3 and 4.

This role requires confident communication, strong classroom management, and the ability to work independently with provided instructions. Immediate start and a strong safeguarding focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• Confident communication and classroom management skills.
• Ability to lead a class and maintain clear boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Follow and deliver lesson plans and activities provided by teaching staff.
• Maintain effective classroom routines and appropriate behaviour.
• Encourage students to remain focused and complete their work.
• Support pupils across different subjects and year groups.
• Respond appropriately to classroom issues and follow school procedures.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff on student engagement and behaviour where appropriate.
