Job summary

GSL Education in Barnsley is seeking a Classroom Supervisor to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4 when teachers are unavailable. You will supervise, manage behaviour, and help pupils complete work in a structured environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• Confident communication and classroom management skills.
• Ability to lead a class and maintain clear boundaries.
• A calm, organised and reliable approach.
• Confidence working with secondary-age students.
• Ability to work independently while following provided instructions.
• A genuine interest in supporting students' education and development.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Follow and deliver lesson plans and activities provided by teaching staff.
• Maintain effective classroom routines and appropriate behaviour.
• Encourage students to remain focused and complete their work.
• Support pupils across different subjects and year groups.
• Respond appropriately to classroom issues and follow school procedures.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff on student engagement and behaviour where appropriate.
