Imaging Assistant - CT

The closing date is 22 May 2025

We are looking for an enthusiastic individuals to work within the CT Team in our Radiology department to cover a career break and maternity leave until June/July 2026. This post is mainly based at Colchester Hospital, however you will be required to rotate across to our Clacton Hospitals.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to provide efficient, high quality support for patients attending our radiology department. Assisting Radiographers, Nurses and Radiologists you will ensure all CT procedures and administration duties are carried out.

You would become involved in enhancing the Radiology service.

You will be rostered flexibility over a 7 day week to include evenings, weekends and bank holidays with 12 hour shifts of 08:00 - 20:00 on a rotational basis.

You must possess excellent communication and Information Technology skills, and be a good team player. You will need to be able to work under your own initiative but with a high level of supervision and with good support. Appropriate training will be given.

Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only. This will need to be discussed with your current line manager.

Main duties of the job
  • To greet patients in a professional manner
  • To support radiographers/ sonographers in preparing the patient for their examination
  • To assist patients to get dressed and undressed and to chaperone patients where necessary for example in the scanning rooms
  • To assist patients with personal care such as toileting, vomiting, bed changes or those requiring support
  • To ensure that patient privacy and dignity are respected at all times
  • To attend to patients' needs whilst in waiting areas and after examinations, for example, making and giving drinks, contacting relatives/carers
  • Assist patients with initial safety screening for scan and medicines administered by Radiographers/ Radiologists
  • To assist with the moving and handling of patients and loads using the correct moving and handling aids and techniques in accordance with local guidelines and risk assessments
  • To deal with enquiries, in person, by telephone or by email in an efficient and professional manner, relaying and documenting information accurately and in a timely manner
  • Enters and maintains accurate patient information into imaging systems, radiology management system, and patient information system and archive databases
  • Preparing appropriate paperwork and documentation relevant to the radiological examination

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Numeracy and literary skills
  • Evidence of good written and verbal communication skills.
  • NVQ level 2 in Healthcare or equivalent experience
