Overview

Job Title: IM&T Manager - IT Cost Base

Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role

Salary: £47,271 + depending on experience

Responsibilities

• Be the primary day-to-day lead for the monthly budget management process within Technology Enablement/IM&T
• Produce trustworthy actuals with significant accruals/prepayments captured, before overseeing the timely preparation of Management Information packs, investigating variances with Product Group leads to hold them to account for their performance, and condensing things down to the appropriate level for the Function’s senior leadership
• Play a key role in gathering reliable and realistic inputs/Basis of Estimates for the Function’s submission to Quantum (budget), IBP, and Reforecasting exercises
• Partner with IT Product Group teams - whilst maintaining an appropriate level of professional scepticism - to leverage their detailed knowledge into better forecasting outcomes for the Function
• Help to run the Change management process within the Function: understand the detail of requests, challenge these for veracity, and ensure the Function’s senior leadership have the full picture before they take decisions
• Work with Group’s Shared Services IT to understand and challenge how they bill Submarines for IT services, ensuring costs are understood and in-line with expectations
• Improve and modernise processes within the team, including the production & format of reporting data, tracking costs by area, and simplifying Purchase Requisitioning

Your skills and experiences

• Finance or Project Management qualifications or equivalent experience
• Experience working in finance, budget management project management or data analysis
• A good communicator with experience managing stakeholders at all levels
• Experienced user of MS Office

The IT Cost Management team

This is an increasingly rare chance to be involved with both the mechanics of maintaining the Function’s numbers, alongside business partnering the Function’s senior leaders and cost controllers to help them better manage their budget outcomes. The successful candidate should have a background in some form of cost/budget management (Finance or PM qualifications are desirable but not essential); be confident in presenting to senior stakeholders but not afraid to challenge them where necessary; and be able to tackle process improvements head-on. In return, it gives significant exposure to the senior leadership of one of the business’s core enablement Functions, with clear opportunities to progress into other BAE roles both within and outside of TE.
