As the Accounts Assistant, you will:
  • Process purchase invoices and reconcile supplier statements
  • Advise on credit risk, monitor, and chase outstanding customer payments (credit control)
  • Manage sales ledger, including raising customer invoices and credit notes
  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Enter data and maintain accurate financial records
  • Monitor accuracy of financial data supplied to parent company
  • Assist in the preparation of VAT returns, undertake VAT reconciliation, and oversee monthly VAT payments
  • Assist with month-end processes, including journals and accruals
  • Calculate commissions and support payroll preparation
  • Handle general office administration related to finance
  • Assist in the annual audit process and the preparation of annual financial statements
  • Oversee order shipping and advise sales personnel as appropriate
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum of two years' experience in an accounting role
  • Good understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective time management and task prioritization skills
  • Good communication skills and team spirit
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers
  • Process-oriented with initiative to streamline and learn new processes
  • Ability to work confidentially
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and provide cover during absences or peak periods
Desirable:
  • AAT qualification or working towards it
  • Experience in the distribution or logistics sector
  • Willingness to acquire new skills, study, and develop your career
