Pay Range

$202,500 - $256,824 Yearly at the SES.4 level

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. Job Description

We have an opening for a strategic and results-driven Identity and Access Management Architect (IAM) to guide IAM Operations. This role focuses on creating processes, developing long-term strategies, and driving alignment between organizational goals and IAM initiatives. This position is in the Information Technology Solutions (ITS) division within the Computing Directorate, in support of LivIT and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).

This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week, after a probationary period. The specifics of the hybrid schedule, including the exact number of days required in the office and virtual work options may vary based on the needs of the team and the organization.

You will

  • Develop and implement a long-term strategy for IAM functions, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and scalability needs.
  • Establish and maintain IAM governance frameworks and policies to ensure compliance and security. Lead efforts to educate stakeholders on IAM processes, policies, and best practices.
  • Define, monitor and evaluate the operational processes for Active Directory, authentication systems, and identity platforms, ensuring they meet organizational standards and identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and refine workflows and processes related to IAM.
  • Partner with the Applications team to ensure smooth integration of IAM solutions with enterprise applications.
  • Provide strategic guidance on integration projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Act as the primary liaison between IAM operations, Applications, Security, and Infrastructure teams to ensure cohesive planning and execution.
  • Develop metrics and reporting tools to measure the effectiveness of IAM operations and strategies. Provide regular updates to leadership on IAM initiatives, progress, and challenges.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Expert experience in strategic planning and architecture within Identity and Access Management (IAM) or related fields.
  • Expert understanding of Active Directory, authentication systems, and identity platforms.
  • Expert ability to develop and implement governance frameworks and policies.
  • Expert leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Expert ability to manage complex projects and drive alignment across teams.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Certifications in IAM, Active Directory, or related technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator).
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Highly advanced experience in architecting scalable IAM strategies for large organizations.

Position Information

This is a Flexible Term appointment, which is for a definite period not to exceed six years. If final candidate is a Career Indefinite employee, Career Indefinite status may be maintained (should funding allow).

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you use a medical device, which pairs with a mobile device, you must still follow the rules concerning the mobile device in individual sections within Limited Areas. Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities require separate approval. Hearing aids without wireless capabilities or wireless that has been disabled are allowed in Limited Areas, Secure Space and Transit/Buffer Space within buildings.
