Job summary

Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Intensive Care Unit on a permanent basis. The post involves caring for Level 2 and Level 3 ICU patients within a 15-bed unit, with orientation and education pathways provided.

Experience in Acute Care is essential. The team offers mentorship, a supportive environment, and opportunities to develop critical care knowledge and skills within a values-driven Trust.

Qualifications

• Registered Adult Nurse with at least 6 months post-registration experience.
• Mentorship & Assessing qualification (or acquired following Preceptorship & after 12 months in post).
• Post-registration qualification or evidence of further study.
• Relevant speciality qualification (may be required for Critical Care).

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based care to ICU patients at Band 5 level.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for critically ill patients.
• Administer medications and therapies with accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.
• Support patients and families with compassionate communication and advocacy.
• Maintain professional development and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
