Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust is seeking a networking specialist to oversee day-to-day network performance, security, and user administration at our Ashford site. You will plan technology refreshes, manage licenses and warranties, and ensure robust business continuity for networking services.

Essential criteria include interpreting NHS guidance, three years of networking experience, and designing resilience and continuity for networking technologies.

Operational Management & Security

• Oversee day-to-day network performance, including security, user administration, configuration, patching, and performance tuning.
• Plan and execute periodic technology refreshes, while managing warranties, support contracts, operating systems, and software licensing compliance.
• Maintain robust business continuity, disaster recovery, and resilience plans for all networking services.
• Create and maintain accurate, up-to-date technical documentation across all system management processes

• Ability to interpret and advice on national NHS guidance and policy on ICT systems, services and standards, and to adopt/adapt local policy accordingly

Networking experience

Essential criteria

• Three years proven experience in a specialist technician role in networking technologies.
• Experience of designing appropriate resilience and business continuity of networking technologies

Desirable criteria

• ITIL
• Holding a range of professional training certifications for networking technologies

Training, Qualifications and Registration

Essential criteria

• Educated to post-graduate level or equivalent experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
• Evidence of significant personal development through formal courses and/or experience

Probation Period.

New employees external to the trust are subject to a six-month probationary period.

To deliver an effective service it is essential in some of our roles that you are able to travel between work bases in a timely manner.

Production of false or forged documents/qualifications in order to obtain employment is a criminal offence and will be reported to the Police.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

Certain roles are subject to criminal record checks called Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. Therefore, you will be required to submit a completed Disclosure form to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
