Cathedral Appointments is recruiting on behalf of a well-established education provider in the Torbay area for an ICT Network Manager to lead the ICT team and take ownership of the organisation's network, infrastructure and technical support provision. This is a hands-on leadership role, central to keeping technology secure, effective and future-proofed to support teaching, learning and administration.

The role reports to the Business Manager and requires substantial experience managing Windows

Qualifications

• Degree in ICT or substantial experience developing and maintaining an ICT network.
• Experience managing Windows networks and infrastructure, including Windows Server, Hyper-V and Windows 10 environments.
• Experience leading IT technicians and day-to-day management and professional development.
• Knowledge of policies, codes of practice and legislation around ICT in education.

Responsibilities

• Ensure ICT systems, infrastructure and equipment are secure, safe, effective and resilient, in line with industry and Department for Education standards.
• Lead and direct the ICT team, mentoring and developing staff.
• Produce and review strategic ICT plans, including budgets and business continuity.
• Develop robust backup, recovery and business continuity procedures with data integrity.
• Direct the ICT helpdesk function and prioritise ticket resolution.
• Manage ICT procurement, licensing and supplier relationships.

Cathedral Appointments is recruiting on behalf of a well-established education provider in the Torbay area for an ICT Network Manager to lead the ICT team and take ownership of the organisation's network, infrastructure and technical support provision. This is a hands-on leadership role, central to keeping technology secure, effective and future-proofed to support teaching, learning and administration.

The Role

Reporting to the Business Manager, you will lead and direct the ICT team, oversee strategic planning for ICT systems and infrastructure, and ensure robust security, backup and business continuity arrangements are in place. This role would suit an experienced ICT professional with strong technical knowledge of Windows networks and infrastructure, who is equally comfortable leading a team, managing a helpdesk function, and advising senior leadership on technology strategy.

Responsibilities for the ICT Network Manager:

• Ensure ICT systems, infrastructure and equipment are secure, safe, effective and resilient, in line with the latest industry and Department for Education standards
• Lead and direct the ICT team, monitoring performance and delivering training, mentoring and professional development
• Produce and review strategic ICT plans, including budgets, business continuity and device lifecycle management
• Develop and maintain robust backup, recovery and business continuity procedures, and ensure data integrity in line with GDPR and other relevant legislation
• Direct and develop the ICT helpdesk function, ensuring tickets are prioritised and resolved efficiently
• Manage ICT procurement, licensing and supplier relationships, ensuring best value and adherence to financial procedures

Requirements for the ICT Network Manager include:

• Suitable professional ICT qualifications to degree level, and/or substantial experience developing and maintaining an ICT network
• Substantial, up-to-date experience managing Windows networks and infrastructure, including Windows Server, Hyper‑V and Windows 10 environments
• Experience managing management information and support systems (such as SIMS, Office 365 and Google Apps Cloud systems) is an advantage
• Experience leading and managing IT technicians, including day-to-day management and professional development
• Full knowledge of relevant policies, codes of practice and legislation around the use of ICT in an education setting
• Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and lead a team

• Permanent, full-time role (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum)
