Summary:
As the ICS Chief Pharmacist, you will provide expert strategic and operational advice to the ICB and wider ICS partners on pharmacy and medicines matters. This includes responsibilities such as shaping the ICS understanding of medicines optimisation, providing leadership for delegated commissioning responsibilities, overseeing the Medicines Optimisation function, and ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks. You will lead the development of the three pillars of the team, ensuring services are patient-centered, safe, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic advice on pharmacy and medicines in line with national and regional policy.
Shape and influence ICS understanding of medicines optimisation and pharmacy.
Ensure compliance with legislative frameworks related to medicines optimisation and pharmacy services.
Lead delegated commissioning responsibilities, including community pharmacy and high-cost drugs.
Oversee the ICB’s Medicines Optimisation function, ensuring efficacy and development of commissioning roles.
Manage ICB medicines and pharmacy allocations and commissioning.
Deliver a comprehensive integrated pharmacy service with a focus on high-quality care and patient safety.
Represent or deputise at regional/national/international levels on pharmacy and medicines issues.
Provide advice and direction to public health teams to support the delivery of the public health strategy.
