What you’ll be responsible for

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for undertaking planned maintenance activities at our DCWW assets including Production Treatment works, pumping stations, and reservoirs. You will contribute to safeguarding the environment now and for future generations, ensuring compliance with environmental permits.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance on equipment related to the Welsh Water asset base, following company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns.
  • Investigating plant failures and performing repairs promptly to prevent service interruptions and ensure compliance.
  • Proactively identifying and preventing mechanical failures.
  • Installing, refurbishing, and assisting with commissioning equipment to specifications and deadlines.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to maintain proper tolerances and fits for efficient operation.
  • Maintaining knowledge of treatment processes and asset variations for accurate problem assessment.
  • Inspecting, repairing, installing, and testing mechanical and electrical equipment to meet legislative requirements.
  • Assessing spares and materials needed, ordering as necessary.
  • Implementing and maintaining IMS procedures to ISO standards, keeping records for audits.
  • Using mobile devices to record work details and time.
  • Liaising with the Alliance Partnership for large capital scheme implementation.

About you

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • A recognised apprenticeship in mechanical or dual-skilled engineering to at least NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
  • A full UK Driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • IT literacy in Microsoft Office applications; training provided.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with H&S procedures.
Good to know
  • Requirement to participate in standby rota.
