Qualifications

Job description

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced instrumentation, control & automation (ICA) technician to join our Wastewater team based in East Hyde (STW).

As a successful candidate, you will work within multi-disciplinary teams alongside operational teams such as systems, mechanical, and electrical technicians.

Your responsibilities will include installing, modifying, and commissioning new plant equipment to relevant standards, diagnosing and repairing faults on systems and plants, and proactively identifying and reporting work for enhancement, delivering cost-effective improvements.

This role offers a chance to make a significant environmental impact by helping to reduce pollution from our sites.

What you’ll be doing as the ICA Technician
  • Prioritizing health, safety, and well-being of yourself and others by complying with regulations and guidelines.
  • Carrying out maintenance on wastewater assets, including planned and defect maintenance, and installing, modifying, and commissioning new equipment.
  • Recording work and asset information, identifying risks, and suggesting improvements.
  • Providing technical advice, coaching, and training staff, including apprentices.
  • Delivering excellent customer service to internal and external clients in a professional manner.

Base Location: East Hyde (STW) LU1 3TS

Hours: 38 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm, with standby, overtime, and potential earnings increase.

All PPE, tools, and a van are provided when on duty.

What you should bring to the role
  • Qualification to HNC or NVQ Level 3 in instrumentation, control, and automation.
  • Preferably, an 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification.
  • Practical understanding of operational plant and control systems.
  • Knowledge of Wonderware and ClearSCADA is desirable.
  • Experience with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen Bradley), including management and programming.
  • Ability to read circuit diagrams and experience with inverter drives.
  • Experience in calibration and maintenance of instrumentation.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to implement or escalate solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry.
  • Team player with respect for others and willingness to support development.
  • Full UK driving license.
