Job summary

Dŵr Cymru Cyf is seeking engineers with ICA/industrial control experience to support wastewater assets and maintain systems across the region.

You will maintain ICA plant, program PLCs/SCADA, respond to faults, and contribute to capital projects that improve process efficiency and environmental controls. A relevant qualification and a strong team mindset are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • HNC or equivalent in Industrial measurement and control.
  • Time served apprenticeship in electronics, instrumentation or electrical preferred.
  • Fully qualified in at least one work stream with demonstrable track record.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the area's ICA teams to provide support and expertise for wastewater treatment works and assets.
  • Ensuring compliance with the planned maintenance schedule and carrying out ICA plant maintenance.
  • Responding to breakdowns, assessing problems and taking corrective action including spares and repairs.
  • Programming PLCs, telemetry and SCADA to control unmanned plant and update programs as needed.
  • Designing, installing and commissioning capital schemes to enhance ICA and environmental monitoring.
  • Liaising with Alliance Partnership to implement large capital schemes efficiently.

  • Working closely with the area's wastewater teams to provide ICA support and expertise for the area's wastewater treatment works and associated assets
  • Ensuring compliance with the area's planned maintenance schedule
  • Carrying out planned maintenance of ICA plant, and making decisions on both tasks and frequencies in order to strike a balance between regular checks and number of breakdowns
  • Responding to breakdowns on a very wide variety of ICA plant, assessing problems, deciding on action, acquiring spares and carrying out repairs as necessary
  • Recommending design changes if necessary, to ensure that plant continues to function efficiently and effectively in order to maintain levels of service
  • Programming PLCs, telemetry and SCADA systems to efficiently control and monitor unmanned plant and amending existing programmes in response to both faults and operational changes in order to optimise levels of service
  • Reviewing ICA solutions of small capital schemes to ensure correct operation
  • Implementing and maintaining the IMS procedures at all times to ISO standard. Ensuring that all ICA equipment is calibrated by the procedure at defined frequencies and is auditable and keeping BMS records to ensure that they are satisfactory for internal and BSI audits
  • Ensuring the operation of all communication links to wastewater outstations are maintained and operable at all times
  • Implementing and maintaining the Planned Maintenance System
  • Being actively involved in design, installation and commissioning of Capital Schemes to enhance ICA, Process optimisation and environmental discharge monitoring and control
  • Liaising closely within the Alliance Partnership to ensure that all large capital schemes are implemented effectively and efficiently
  • Designing, installing, commissioning and maintaining all instrumentation and communication links to wastewater assets
  • Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business
  • HNC or equivalent in Industrial measurement and control
  • Clean driving licence
  • Time Served apprenticeship in a relevant role - electronics, instrumentation or electrical would be desirable; or fully qualified in at least one of the work streams with a demonstrable track record and experience

  • There will be a requirement to participate in standby rota
