Location: North West, North East, and South of Yorkshire / Hybrid Working

Work type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Standby expected after achieving required progression level, with occasional overtime possible.

We have an exciting opportunity for an ICA Technician to join a regional team (North West, North East, or South) at Yorkshire Water, helping us provide excellent service to our customers. Could this be you?

What we do:

Yorkshire Water ensures over 5.4 million residents and visitors have access to clean, safe drinking water and proper wastewater management. We are committed to communities, environmental protection, and sustainable water management, operating 24/7, 365 days a year. The Instrumentation, Control, and Automation teams are vital to meeting evolving customer and regulatory expectations.

As an ICA technician within our Asset Delivery team, you will work independently across various locations, handling planned and reactive ICA tasks within set timeframes, quality, and budget. Your responsibilities include maintaining, repairing, and commissioning instrumentation, control, automation, and telemetry systems at treatment works, pumping stations, CSOs, and reservoirs. We provide in-house training on PLCs, SCADA, and instruments to support your role.

Where you fit in:

As our ICA Technician, you will:

• Work independently across diverse locations, completing ICA tasks on time
• Build and maintain relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers, and partners
• Adhere to safety protocols and work safely
• Identify hazards proactively, suggest mitigations, and document safety improvements
• Maintain, repair, and commission ICA equipment, including PLCs, telemetry, and instrumentation such as pressure, flow, level, chlorine residual, turbidity, and pH sensors

Skills & qualifications needed:

• Commitment to safety
• Recognized electrical craft or technician apprenticeship
• Electrical qualification: National Certificate (ONC) or similar
• Practical electrical qualification: City and Guilds, NVQ, or similar
• Ability to interpret technical diagrams and electrical drawings
• Fault-finding skills on electrical systems
• Safe isolation according to IET regulations
• IT skills

Beneficial additional qualifications and experience:

• IET 18th edition wiring regulations
• CompEx certification (Ex 1, 2, 3, 4)
• HNC in electrical/electronic engineering
• PLC systems maintenance and fault diagnosis experience
• Professional registration with IET or similar
• Experience in water or process industries
• IOSH qualification
