IBM Hardware Engineer

IBM Hardware Engineer is sought by a highly innovative IT services company for their Banking client in Sheffield. Consequentially they require bright a well-practised IBM Hardware Engineer to take ownership across mainframe technologies which will include: IBM Power and Storage systems, IBM i PowerHA and LPM migration toolkit design and implementation.

As IBM Hardware Engineer you will build and configure new z16 machines with assisted documentation. The IBM Hardware Engineer will be instrumental in the migration activities of the z14 to the z16 models. Consequentially my client is keen to consider IBM Hardware Engineer’s with sound technical fundamentals in managing mainframe hardware models with HCD, IODF, HMC configuration activities. The IBM Hardware Engineer will additionally oversee racking, stacking, channel configuration and powering of equipment in Data Centres.

IBM Hardware Engineer permanent profile required:

• Proven experience with IBM Power and Storage systems and mainframe hardware.
• Hands-on experience in building and configuring new z16 machines.
• Demonstrated involvement in z14 to z16 migration activities.
• Strong knowledge of mainframe hardware management tools and interfaces (HCD, IODF, HMC).
• Experience overseeing the physical setup (racking, stacking, channel configuration, power-up) of data centre equipment.
• Excellent troubleshooting abilities and the capacity to work independently as well as part of a focused team.
• Experience in creating and managing detailed technical documentation.
• Bright and highly collaborative with a “get-things-done” attitude to problem solving and technical challenges.
• Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer/Electrical/Software Engineering or similar.

IBM Hardware Engineer permanent contract details include:

Contract: Permanent.

Salary: Up to £65,000

Location: Sheffield, Yorkshire - Hybrid 3 days onsite working with 2 days WFH.
