Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced IBD Specialist Nurse to join the Wythenshawe Hospital service. You will provide clinical leadership for the IBD team, support care excellence, and lead professional practice development for IBD nursing and patient care.

You will deliver expert clinical advice, manage a caseload, and contribute to education and service improvement across day-case and inpatient settings.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level.
• Working towards Masters level.
• Hold the IBD Unit Salford University.
• Competent in use of IT packages such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Good knowledge of clinical information systems e.g.electronic health records.
• Competent in databases and spread sheets.
• 3 years experience within inflammatory bowel disease nursing.
• Demonstrates specialist expertise under pinned by theory ac quired through CPD.
• Evidence of involve ment in the develop ment of protocols and clinical audit.

Responsibilities

• Operate autonomously at an advanced level of clinical practice providing research based, compassionate care and advice to all colleagues and managing a caseload effectively.
• Co-ordinate follow up and surveillance of patients at high risk of colon cancer and also those patients at risk of developing osteoporosis following steroid therapy.
• Provide training and supervision to patients receiving subcutaneous therapy and to provide appropriate follow up for these patients.
• Assist the monitoring system for patients receiving immunosuppressant therapy, thus ensuring safe administration of these medications
