Job description

IASB Technical Staff, Dynamic Risk Management

London

Job Purpose: To support the delivery of the Dynamic Risk management project by conducting research and analysis on relevant technical accounting issues, engaging with stakeholders, developing recommendations and drafting due process documents.

The team

  • This technical staff role is within our Financial Instruments team

Principal Accountabilities

  • Developing technical proposals on the DRM project for consideration by the IASB and to facilitate their decision-making on technical matters identified by:

o undertaking analysis of comment letters and outreach feedback, as well as evidenced-based research to support technical decisions.

o initiating and leading discussions with IASB and external stakeholders.

o drafting papers and technical documents for consideration and presenting them to IASB.

o drafting due process documents.

  • Prepare a range of documents and communications for internal and external use.
  • Act as a credible and authoritative representative of the IASB by consulting with a wide range of external stakeholders from industry and the accounting, investment, regulatory and standard-setting communities, to ascertain their views and to share information.
  • Provide general project support to senior staff and the IASB.
  • Contribute to the development of other staff
  • Manage relevant committees and working groups.
  • Manage technical project administrative matters

Qualifications & experience

  • Qualified accountant with practical experience and a deep understanding of both the hedge accounting requirements in IFRS 9 and IAS 39 and how entities (especially banks and insurers) are managing interest rate risk in practice.
