Job summary

The Children’s Society in Torbay is offering an IAPT Trainee position for High Intensity CBT. This fixed-term 12-month role provides 35 hours per week with a salary of £29,855 per annum.

The training pathway leads to BABCP accreditation, via PG Diploma, with University of Exeter study two days weekly and service work two to three days weekly. The programme runs January–December and is funded by Health Education England; entry requires Level 6 qualification and BABCP-recognised core profession,

About the role:


We are currently looking for a practitioner to train for a qualification under the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Scheme in:


PG Diploma in Psychological Therapies Practice (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Anxiety Disorders and Depression)


This programme equips practitioners to practice CBT at a high-intensity level. It is aimed at staff who work with a range of presentations in their daily practice, and would equip you with skills,knowledge and competencies to become an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). The course is a level 2 BABCP-accredited Postgraduate Diploma.


The course runs for one year, between January and December. This is a training course funded by Health Education England, so you would be studying at the University of Exeter 2 days a week and working within The Children's Society's Check Point Wellbeing Service 2-3 days per week.


Entry Requirements


The course is suitable for anyone who already has a foundation in CBT skills. You would need to have:



  • Level 6 qualification, and

  • a core profession recognised by BABCP.


OR



  • Eligibility to complete the course via the KSA route


Level 6 qualification is usually an undergraduate degree or equivalent.‘KSA’ stands for ‘Knowledge Skills and Attitude’ and involves completing a portfolio to show how your current skills match the level necessary for a core profession. You must have a minimum of four years of relevant training. This includes, your core professional training (or KSA equivalent), plus the duration of your CBT training course.
