Qualifications

About The Role

As an I&C Technician, UK ICS, you will become part of the nuclear industry's leading edge. You'll have the opportunity to utilize your skills and experience in an environment where excellence is always paramount.

The Principal I&C Engineer will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing technical guidance and oversight for projects across the global nuclear industry. The role involves technical involvement throughout the project lifecycle, from interpreting customer requirements during tendering, through concept development, detailed design, manufacturing support, testing, installation, obsolescence management, and plant life extension on a Nuclear Licensed site.

You will report to the Customer Solutions Manager UK ICS and be based in Gateshead.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage electrical, control, and instrumentation aspects of major projects across the project lifecycle, including requirements capture, design, implementation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Prepare tenders/quotations aligned with customer specifications, ensuring diligent costing to minimize financial risks.
  • Generate Front-End Engineering Design packages.
  • Lead projects involving refurbishment of aging systems and new designs, using a range of electrical, control, and instrumentation equipment, including analogue and digital systems (relay-based, solid state, PLC).
  • Apply knowledge of Power Electronics Circuit Design.
  • Design and analyze Analogue Control Schemes.
  • Create technical review reports on ageing and obsolescence of existing systems.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Experience as an Electrical and/or Control & Instrumentation Engineer, preferably within the Nuclear Industry or a highly regulated industry.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in leading and developing teams.
  • Understanding of factors contributing to business success.
  • Proficient in using recognized CAD software for drawings and schematics.
