Job summary

Hudson Shribman is seeking an experienced hyperMILL CNC Programmer / CAD CAM Engineer to join its precision engineering team in North London. You will primarily program offline using hyperMILL and contribute to mechanical design and manufacturing support.

The role requires strong CAD/CAM skills, the ability to interpret drawings, and a hands-on approach across programming, design and production. Experience in aerospace/defence or high-precision manufacturing is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in CNC programming using hyperMILL.
• Strong CAD/CAM programming skills within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Good understanding of CNC milling processes, cutting tools and machining strategies.
• Experience interpreting complex engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.
• Knowledge of machining tolerances, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to review designs and identify practical manufacturing solutions.
• Some mechanical design or CAD modelling experience.
• Hands-on engineering approach across programming, design and production.

Responsibilities

• Produce and develop CNC milling programs using hyperMILL CAD/CAM software.
• Create and optimise machining strategies for precision-engineered components.
• Develop CNC programs for 3-axis and multi-axis milling applications, where required.
• Review engineering drawings, CAD models and customer specifications to establish manufacturing requirements.
• Undertake mechanical design and CAD modelling work as required.
• Review component designs and provide technical input on manufacturability.
• Support engineering reviews of machined components and sheet metal assemblies.
• Work closely with CNC machinists, production and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
• Improve machining methods, tooling strategies, cycle times and manufacturing efficiency.
• Contribute to design for manufacture (DFM) and continuous improvement activities.
