Job summary

Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Stroke Consultant Physician to provide day-to-day stroke care and support the ongoing transformation of stroke services as the Trust moves toward a shared care model with Dorset and Somerset. The role includes leadership in quality improvement and education within the stroke team.

The post offers opportunities to develop as a leader, engage in research and education, and contribute to service development across acute and community settings.

Qualifications

• Essential: MRCP or overseas equivalent and Full GMC Registration to practise in the UK.
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register (CCT or CESR or European Rights) within 6 months of interview.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in stroke medicine.

Responsibilities

• In-patient and out-patient care for patients with suspected stroke or TIA.
• Contribute to audit, research and governance to maintain high standards of patient care.
• Provide 24-hour acute stroke service including thrombolysis and advice on treatments.
• Participate in weekend and public holiday consultant ward rounds.
• Offer clinical guidance for community stroke services and education roles.
