Overview of Role

The Hygiene Team Member will ensure that hygiene and housekeeping standards are maintained at a high level across the site. Responsibilities include cleaning facilities, equipment, and infrastructure in accordance with ABSS standards, and ensuring safety for yourself and colleagues to achieve the 'Safety First' vision. You will work a rotational schedule of days and nights, 12-hour shifts from 6 to 6, with paid breaks.

Key Accountabilities

1. Adhere to daily schedules and meet required standards in assigned areas.
2. Assist in meeting departmental KPIs as part of the team.
3. Follow instructions and guidelines from the hygiene department.
4. Inform Hygiene Controller / Coordinator to validate completed cleaning tasks.
5. Identify and address potential food safety risks.
6. Report hazards or defects promptly.
7. Manage work wear deliveries from the Laundry.
8. Assist in waste reduction and removal of bakery and returns waste.
9. Clean and litter pick the site perimeter and facilities, including the canteen.
10. Operate floor cleaning machinery.

Additional Responsibilities

• Flexibility to support mobility needs.
• Work alongside pest control to minimize pest activity.

Health & Safety

• Follow safety procedures, risk assessments, and PPE guidelines.
• Lead by example to promote safety.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and COSHH regulations.
• Report hazards and near misses.

Site Standards & Service

• Maintain high cleaning standards and share best practices.
• Contribute ideas to improve efficiency and cost savings.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

People

• Work proactively and support colleagues.
