Job summary

Castle Employment Agency Ltd in Huddersfield is seeking a Hygiene Supervisor to lead hygiene and cleaning across the manufacturing site. You will drive hygiene standards on the factory floor, working closely with Production and Technical teams, and own site cleanliness and food safety.

Role requires hands-on, visible leadership on the shop floor, with experience in food manufacturing hygiene and knowledge of HACCP/COSHH. Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, permanent position in Huddersfield.

Hygiene Supervisor

An established, family-owned food manufacturer in Huddersfield is looking to recruit a Hygiene Supervisor to take responsibility for maintaining and continually improving hygiene standards across its manufacturing operation.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in food manufacturing hygiene who enjoys being visible on the factory floor, working closely with Production and Technical teams and taking real ownership of site standards.

As Hygiene Supervisor, you will oversee day-to-day hygiene activities, ensuring cleaning schedules, procedures and food safety requirements are consistently followed. You will play an important role in keeping the site audit-ready and driving a strong hygiene culture across the operation.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing day-to-day hygiene and cleaning activities across the manufacturing site
• Ensuring cleaning schedules, procedures and standards are consistently achieved
• Monitoring hygiene performance and identifying areas for improvement
• Ensuring chemicals are stored, handled and used safely in line with COSHH requirements
• Supporting HACCP, food safety and site compliance requirements
• Maintaining accurate hygiene records and documentationSupporting BRCGS, customer and third-party audit requirements
• Investigating hygiene-related non-conformances and ensuring corrective actions are completed
• Working closely with Production and Technical teams to resolve issues and improve standards
• Promoting a positive food safety and hygiene culture across the factory

What we're looking for:

You’ll ideally have previous hygiene experience within a food manufacturing environment, potentially as a Hygiene Supervisor, Hygiene Team Leader, Hygiene Coordinator or similar.

You’ll need a good understanding of factory hygiene, food safety and cleaning processes, alongside knowledge of areas such as HACCP and COSHH. Experience working within BRCGS standards or supporting food manufacturing audits would be advantageous.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is comfortable being hands‑on and visible within the operation, can build strong relationships across departments and is confident challenging standards when required.
